MEMBERS of the public aged 21 years and above are encouraged to register with the Election Commission (EC) to enable them to vote for the coming general election.

Ledang Umno Youth movement chief, Zaidi Ab Majid, said efforts to enrol new members at the branch level is under way.

He said branch youth chiefs should take steps to identify and register their youth members who are 21 years old and above as voters.

"We need the cooperation of branch youth chiefs to ensure no one is left without the opportunity to vote in the next general election," he said while officiating the Parit Bunga Raya Hujung Umno Youth branch badminton competition in Bukit Gambir, near Ledang, recently.

"We need to strengthen unity especially among the young who are the backbone support for the present leadership,"

Also present were Parit Bunga Raya Hujung village head, Rosli Saring; Kampung Simpang 5 Darat village head, Misnan Abd Jalal; Ledang branch Umno Youth vice chief, Mohd Musa Kathiran and the movement's branch youth chief, Salam Tumin.

The badminton competition was jointly organised by Bulu Tangkis Tunas Baru club and The Ledang Umno Youth movement to discover new talent and stimulate activities among the youths at branch level.

Zaidi said such activities would help youngsters and the elderly interact and share ideas and opinions.

"Ten teams involvng the young and veterans are among participants in the competition. A sporting spirit will help bring about a healthy and active generation," he said.

The competition's first prize went to Ali Sarikon and Salehan Sakiran, while the second prize winners were Mohd Safuan Md Noh and Mohd Farhan Santosa.
